You will need to make sure your server meets or exceeds the minimal requirements for running Orbit Web Spider. If your server does not meet these requirements, contact us and we will be glad to install and configure all the necessary software. To install Orbit Web Spider, you will need a dedicated Linux server.
Orbit Web Spider requires a large amount of hard disk space to collect and index web pages. Search speeds depend largely on the amount of RAM available to the system.
The average amount of drive space required to store one web page is 10KB. To store 1,000,000 pages you would need to reserve 10GB of disk space.
The average quantity of RAM required to search one page is 2KB. With 4GB of RAM, you will be able to execute searches for 2,000,000 pages.
Or we can offer you a dedicated server to use with Orbit Web Spider, so you don't have to worry about server requirements!
